Community Recovery Academy completes first part of training
The Community Recovery Academy was launched in September this year. Since then, 110 participants from 37 communities from all over Ukraine have joined the project. It is based on the experience of the Mariupol City Council in developing the Mariupol Reborn, a plan for revitalizing the city after de-occupation.
The teams of municipalities learned how to formulate community strategies, economic modeling, overcome social conflicts, and attract investments and resources. The Academy attracted 22 speakers from Ukraine and abroad.
During the first half of the training, the participants attended 24 lectures, in which experts revealed key aspects of development and recovery for our participants. They also took part in 4 offline events. The training will last until March 2025.
The Community Recovery Academy has become a platform for training municipal managers of Ukraine's post-war recovery. Students receive the best international expertise in rebuilding cities after wars and disasters. I am confident that the graduates will be able to develop and implement the best solutions for rebuilding Ukrainian cities.
Community Recovery Academy was founded by the Association of Ukrainian Cities and the NGO Mariupol.Reborn. The project is being implemented with the support of the UK Government under the UK International Development program and the International Republican Institute (IRI Ukraine) in partnership with Metinvest and SCM. The educational partners of the project are Metinvest Polytechnic and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
