Mariupol in the network of European cities “Eurocities”

The Executive Committee of Eurocities has approved Mariupol's application to join Eurocities. This is the largest network of European cities, which includes more than 200 major cities from 38 countries of the European Union and beyond.
"Eurocities is not just a network, it is a powerful platform for interaction, exchange of ideas, and joint action for positive change. For Mariupol, membership here means opening up new horizons: opportunities for networking, training programs, and sharing best practices in rebuilding cities after the war. This is a direct way to establish cooperation with European municipalities, attract investments and represent the interests of Mariupol residents in the international arena.
The issue of post-war reconstruction of communities affected by the hostilities is one of the biggest challenges for Ukraine. Deepening our cooperation with Eurocities will help prepare managers for future reconstruction through the Community Recovery Schools educational platform. We will be able to attract the best European expertise and establish strong ties with Ukrainian cities on the path of future development. In addition, this international platform will allow Mariupol to convey the truth about the city, engage partners in support of Mariupol residents and in the fight for justice.
The first steps have already been taken. As part of the Community Recovery Academy educational program, representatives of the Eurocities network gave lectures on the EU accession mechanism, international relations, the basics of project preparation and development, and considered the cases of the cities of Tallinn and Vilnius.
The Community Recovery School, founded by the Association of Ukrainian Cities and Mariupol Reborn, aims to train municipal managers for the recovery period. The project is being implemented with the support of the UK Government under the UK International Development program and the International Republican Institute (IRI Ukraine) in partnership with Metinvest and SCM.
