THE FIRST 62 FAMILIES FROM MARIUPOL MOVED INTO NEW SOCIAL HOUSING IN DNIPRO

Housing remains the most pressing issue for hundreds of thousands of Mariupol residents whose homes have been destroyed or remain under occupation. The team of Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boichenko is working to solve this problem for the city's community. Two social housing facilities have already been built in Dnipro for 263 families from Mariupol. Recently, a third social housing facility was opened, where 192 more families will soon be able to move in. Today, the first 62 families received keys to comfortable studio apartments.

Each key we hand over is not just a key to an apartment. It is a key to new hope, to a sense of security and trust in the future. This is our joint step towards revival, a step towards ensuring that Ukrainians stay in the country despite all the challenges. We are working not only on such temporary solutions, but also on a long-term strategy with the Ukrainian government to build new European-style social housing. Our goal is not just to support, but to keep and return our people home to Ukraine

emphasized Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boichenko.

According to Mariupol residents, social housing is a significant support for them. It's not just a roof over their heads - it's a foundation that will help them return to normal life. Among those who have received apartments are Mariupol residents who need help the most: families of military personnel, prisoners of war, large families, people with disabilities and pensioners.

The conditions for comfortable living are created here. We are grateful to our international partners who support such initiatives and help create such spaces. Today, the government is allocating all possible resources to protect our country so that victory can come as soon as possible and our defenders have everything they need to defend themselves. I am grateful to the administration of Mariupol, which defends the rights of residents of Mariupol and the entire Donetsk region at all levels, and initiated many changes to resolutions and bills that allowed our communities to provide for the residents of Donetsk region on their own

said Deputy Head of Donetsk Regional State Administration Oleksandr Shevchenko

The new social housing was built on the premises of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology. Five 4-storey buildings have been transformed into cozy 192 studio apartments equipped with all the necessary furniture and appliances. Special attention is paid to inclusiveness: the apartments for people with disabilities are equipped to meet all their needs.

The buildings also have common spaces for socializing and development: recreation rooms for children and adults, a coworking space with laptops for work and study, a gym, comfortable kitchens and common laundry facilities. The partners of Mariupol City Council helped to create comfortable conditions. Among them is Rinat Akhmetov's SCM Group of Companies.

Being involved in such important social projects is our commitment and our responsibility as a big business. Step by step, more and more people are getting their own housing, albeit temporary. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, SCM, and Metinvest are doing everything possible to make this housing as comfortable as possible. We promised to support Ukrainian Mariupol and we are doing it - through the community

said Natalia Yemchenko, member of the Supervisory Board of Mariupol Reborn, Communications Director at SCM

The social housing project is being implemented by the Mariupol City Council with financial support from the French government, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration, in coordination with the Government of Ukraine and the Donetsk Regional Military Administration. The project is also supported by Proliska, UNHCR, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and Grohe. The initiative has already created four social housing facilities for 476 Mariupol families in Kyiv and Dnipro.
