Development of cities of the future: vision of transformation of urban spaces of Ukraine
Recovery due to a deep transformation - such a key message sounded during a lecture from a mistolation at a community restoration school. Yuriy Chudnovsky, director of the Institute of Architecture, Urbanism and Regionalism of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine, co-founder of numerous innovative projects and author of influential works in the field of urban studies, shared his expert vision on the strategic development of urban spaces.
During the lecture, Yuriy Chudnovsky presented an innovative view of the future of Ukrainian cities. According to him, today it is not enough to talk about the simple restoration of urban spaces - it is time for their deep transformation. In the context of growing cities for human resources, the creation of a qualitatively new urban environment, which will meet the modern challenges and needs of citizens, becomes of particular importance.
The expert emphasized the need for a dramatic change in the approach to interaction between the authorities and the citizens. In his opinion, the successful development of cities is possible only if the true partnership between the local authorities and the community is established. To do this, it is necessary to give up an outdated model of passive contemplation, when citizens translate all responsibility to the selected representatives of the authorities.
An important element of such transformation should be the professional education of community members. Chudnovsky emphasized that citizens should have the necessary knowledge and skills to form constructive proposals for city development, and not be limited to protest actions. This will create an effective dialogue between the authorities and the community based on a professional approach and mutual respect.
We do not continue the past, but look for a new way
According to his vision, the successful future of urban spaces depends on four key components: systemic education of communities, the development of partnerships between the authorities and citizens, the formation of a joint vision of community development and the creation of new forms of interaction through the renewal of the Community Charter.
The lecture from Yuriy Chudnovsky became an important contribution to the development of a discussion on the future of Ukrainian cities and emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to urban planning, where every member of the community can become an active participant in the process of positive changes.
