Gender justice as a basis for the development of Ukrainian communities
As part of the Community Recovery Academy, a lecture was held on a topic of great importance for the development of Ukrainian communities - gender justice.
The speaker at the event was Iryna Rubis, a diversity and inclusion strategist and trainer, head of the NGO The Day After Tomorrow and founder of Biasless. Her experience and in-depth knowledge allowed the audience to understand complex but important issues related to gender equality and inclusion.
The lecture was a real source of new knowledge and aroused great interest among the audience. Iryna focused on the fact that gender equality is not limited to women's rights, but concerns each of us. She explained in detail the difference between the concepts of sex, gender, and gender identity, and gave examples of how “glass ceilings” and “sticky floors” affect people's career development.
Particular attention was paid to the impact of gender equality on the economy and productivity of organizations, which is especially important in the context of Ukraine's post-war recovery. The lecturer emphasized that only with equal access to opportunities will communities be able to reach their maximum potential.
The recovery of Ukrainian communities must be equitable, barrier-free and gender-sensitive. Only by integrating the principles of equality and inclusion into the recovery process will we be able to create strong, prosperous communities that support each and every member.
This lecture was an important step in raising awareness of these aspects and provided a solid foundation for further action.
