How to effectively use own resources on the example of Mariupol
The lecture by Serhiy Orlov, Deputy Mayor of Mariupol, was the final one in the second module of the Community Recovery Academy for training municipal managers.
The event was dedicated to discussing the key challenges and solutions faced by local government representatives during the war, as well as practical approaches to restoring the territories.
The main insights of the lecture:
Lessons in crisis management: Sergiy Orlov described in detail how the war changed approaches to city management. He emphasized the importance of rapid adaptation to new conditions, prompt response to challenges, and attracting international support.
Infrastructure restoration: Particular attention was paid to the planning processes for restoration projects that not only solve current problems but also create prospects for long-term development.
The role of the community: The speaker emphasized the importance of active involvement of residents in the recovery process, which promotes cohesion and ensures the success of projects.
Cooperation with international partners: Successful cases of attracting international assistance, including humanitarian, financial, and expert assistance, were revealed.
The power of teamwork: Orlov emphasized that without a strong and cohesive team, it is impossible to effectively overcome difficulties and achieve results.
This lecture was the logical conclusion of the second module of the Academy, in which the students gained practical knowledge to develop effective strategies for community recovery.
In the new year, the Academy participants will receive even more useful information, practical cases and communication with leading experts. The training will continue to help municipal managers implement advanced approaches to rebuild and develop Ukrainian territories.
