The Impact of Human Capital on Ukraine's Recovery: Lecture by Olha Kupets at the Community Recovery Academy

The Community Recovery Academy hosted an important lecture on “Human Resources for Ukraine's Recovery” by Olha Kupets, an associate professor at the Kyiv School of Economics, a World Bank consultant and expert in the areas of labor market, education, gender equality and migration. She has many years of experience working with international organizations, which allows her to analyze the situation in Ukraine in a broad global context.

The lecture focused on the key demographic challenges facing Ukraine, as well as the opportunities that could contribute to the country's effective recovery. Olga explained in detail how population decline and aging, internal and external migration affect society and the economy. She paid special attention to the issues of preserving and attracting human capital, emphasizing that quality education, adapting the labor market to new conditions and supporting young people are critical for the future recovery of the country.

One of the central aspects of the discussion was the problem of emigration. The lecturer emphasized that Ukraine should create conditions that not only reduce the outflow of labor but also facilitate the return of specialists. This requires systemic reforms that provide competitive salaries, social guarantees and opportunities for professional development.

The participants of the lecture were actively involved in the discussion, asking questions about what tools can be used to improve the situation on the labor market and how communities can help retain qualified personnel. Ms. Olha gave specific examples of successful international practices that can be adapted to Ukrainian realities.

In general, the lecture was extremely informative and practically useful. It provided a deeper understanding of the current challenges and prospects for human capital development in Ukraine. Participants gained valuable knowledge and tools that will help them work effectively to rebuild their communities.
