LABYRINTH OF UNBREAKABLE CITIES PROJECT LAUNCHED WITHIN THE WORK OF THE MARIUPOL REBORN PLATFORM

Лабіринти незламних міст

The opening of the exhibition-reinterpretation "Labyrinths of Unbreakable Cities" was held in Lviv.

The joint project of the Mariupol City Council and the Bakhmut City Military Administration is designed to help rethink the traumatic experience of war and its impact on the architecture of Ukrainian cities. The "Labyrinths of Unbreakable Cities" program unites representatives of the cultural, educational, technical, media and creative spheres, as well as representatives of the authorities and immigrants. The result of the project should be new initiatives for the reconstruction, restoration and revitalization of cities that have undergone large-scale destruction, losing a significant part of their historical and architectural heritage.

Back in the days of the Soviet Union, everything was done to change the history of Mariupol. This is exactly what Russia is trying to do, which drags the past with it along with destruction and crimes. Therefore, now is the time when we have to move away from outdated views. The time has come to cut the umbilical cord of the Soviet and Russian past. The time has come to answer the question of when Mariupol was founded. In order to get a competent answer, we turned to scientists. But defining the history of our city is more than about dates, it is about our self-identification, and most importantly, it is about restoring historical justice

Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko shared at the opening of the exhibition

The exhibition will help to understand the depth of the losses of Mariupol and Bakhmut, because it shows the cities destroyed by the Russians in detail and at the same time reminds of how these unique cities looked like before the full-scale invasion.

A separate interactive part of the exhibition is dedicated to the visualization of the future of Mariupol - as a reminder of the dream of all residents of the occupied cities for liberation, reconstruction and peaceful life in Ukraine.
