Transparency and modernization. How was Japan able to rise from the ruins after the World War II and turn into one of the most powerful economies of the world
A lecture from the extraordinary and authorized ambassador of Ukraine to Japan Serhiy Korsunskyi, devoted to the innovative approaches of the Japanese to the reconstruction of cities, the creation of sustainable infrastructure and an effective crisis management system, was held at the school restoration. Particular attention was paid to Japan's experience in recovering after an earthquake in Kobe and Tsunami in Thohok, which became an example for the whole world.
The lecturer stressed that the experience of post-war reconstruction of Japan can form the basis for justifying and implementing the strategy for the restoration of Ukraine after victory.
Among the key aspects of Japan concentrated was economic development, which included active support for business, small businesses and the formation of a competitive market. Industrial modernization, which contributed to improving productivity and efficiency in production, also played an important role. Japan has chosen an export-oriented policy that allowed the country to strengthen its position in the world market and stimulate economic growth.
Particular attention was paid to investment in education and science, which contributed to the development of skilled labor and the creation of innovative technologies. Japan also introduced social programs to improve the well-being of citizens, expanding access to medicine, housing and education.
In addition, the storage and promotion of cultural heritage has become an important part of public policy, helping to maintain national identity. Tax reforms have provided favorable conditions for attracting financial resources and stimulating investment in priority.
Special economic zones with preferential business conditions were created for the development of the economy, which increased the country's investment attractiveness. Successful fight against corruption and transparency made it possible to strengthen the confidence of citizens and contributed to the stability and efficiency of public institutions.

The lecture participants had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss how the experience of Japan could be used in the process of restoring Ukraine. In particular, their examination was considered in the demining of territories, the introduction of effective garbage sorting systems and a special approach to the strengthening of buildings.
The Community Restoration Academy, founded by the Association Ukrainian Cities and NGO Mariupol.Rebortn, aims to prepare municipal managers for the recovery period. The project is implemented with the support of the UK government under the UK International Development and the International Republican Institute (IRI UKRAINE) in partnership with Metinvest and SCM. The educational partners of the project are Metinvest Polytechnic, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and Ukrainian School of Management.
