Construction of social housing will help return more than 1 million displaced persons to Ukraine
The mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boichenko told about it at the IV International Exhibition and the Rebuild Ukraine Construction & Energy, which took place in Warsaw.
The "Marathon of communities" of the cities of Ukraine presented practical cases of revival and projects that will help to return people. In particular, the Mariupol revival project after de-occupation - Mariupol Reborn.
During his speech, Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boichenko raised the issue of creating mass social housing at the state level, using the successful experience of European countries.
According to him, this will help keep people in Ukraine and return from abroad. According to him, one of the main reasons for the departure of many Ukrainians is the loss of people of their own home. Among them are 1.6 million families from temporarily occupied territories. They cannot find housing in Ukraine because of their high rental in relation to their income level. On average, in Europe, the family spends up to 30% of the total income. In Ukraine, it is more than 60%, and in some regions - 90%.
Social housing is created to resolve housing in Europe. These are both new buildings and renovation of existing buildings. For example in the Netherlands from the Zlusal Housing Fund, 30% is social. In Austria and Germany, it is about 24%. In Poland, which has recently started creating social housing is already 7%. At that time in Ukraine it is less than 0.1%. Here is the answer why people choose Poland, Germany or other European countries
So, in particular, the creation of social housing can move in two directions - it is a quick action, that is, the renovation of existing buildings and the redemption of apartments and long-term actions - is the construction of new housing. Up to 500,000 families can be covered with rapid actions. These are the families who are in dire need, they do not have time to wait. For others, the construction of new social housing.
Ukraine already has the first practical case for the creation of social housing for Mariupol displaced persons. It is a project of the Mariupol municipality, which was implemented in conjunction with the Franciu Government and the International Migration Organization with the support of Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation. Two buildings for social housing for 600 people have already passed. The plans are at least 9 projects in 6 cities for 1000 people.
