MARIUPOL REBORN HAS BEEN PRESENTED AT THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE REBUILD UKRAINE IN POLAND

Rebuild Ukraine

Finished the first of the two days of the Rebuild Ukraine Powed by Energy in Warsaw. During the event, the mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boychenko and the director of NGO "Mariupol. Riborne" Oleksandr Vyshniakov presented the audiences of a large -scale project of the city's revival.

Mariupol Reborn was the first project of its kind in Ukraine. During the year, the Mariupol City Council team prepared several fundamental products for the city's revival. This is a Fast recovery plan of the city in the first 18 months after liberation from the occupiers. Thus, various scenarios of actions development were modelled, a preliminary assessment of infrastructure damage was made, and resource requirements for the restoration of critical infrastructure and utilities were estimated. The team has developed an algorithm of actions to quickly restore housing and social facilities suitable for reconstruction and organize temporary accommodation for the population. Also, with the support of the US government, four international and Ukrainian teams of urbanists and architects were engaged to develop spatial visions of the city. Currently, with the support of Rinat Akhmetov's SCM, the process of combining the visions into one that will contain the main principles of Mariupol's reconstruction is underway.

Mariupol Reborn is not just a project to plan the phased reconstruction of our city after de-occupation. It is more than just about the revival of Mariupol. It is a platform for the exchange of experience between Ukrainian and European communities. This is an algorithm of actions for all communities affected by the enemy's full-scale invasion of our land. In Mariupol Reborn projects, we look for the best solutions and engage leading experts. European cities' proven expertise in urban environment  modelling, urbanism, architecture, communal services  and economic planning is transferred to other hromadas

says Vadym Boichenko, Mayor of Mariupol.

So Mariupol Reborn was presented for the audience of the Second International Conference Rebuild Ukraine Powered by Energy in Warsaw. It is an offline platform for renewal, technology, equipment development, and investment search for the Ukrainian economy destroyed by war. The main attention is paid to infrastructure, industry, energy and housing. Representatives of Ukrainian communities, construction and energy companies, as well as international financial organizations and donors are attending the event. Thus, in the discussion panel "AID & Meetup Development" Director of NGO "Mariupol Reborn", the head of the direction of community development "Metinvest Holding" Oleksandr Vyshniakov presented the project in terms of cooperation of the authorities and business.

We are already joining forces that will be aimed at reviving the city. This includes the authorities, first of all, the Mariupol City Council, international donor organisations and large Ukrainian businesses. Rinat Akhmetov's SCM and "Metinvest" are the main strategic partners of Mariupol Reborn. One and a half million dollars have already been allocated for reconstruction projects. This is a concept of spatial development. There are Mariupol Reborn platforms in Lviv, Dnipro, and now Warsaw. And this is about specific work, because these are physical spaces where work is being carried out, where people work, where Mariupol is represented. And finally, it is Mariupol Academy, which will bring together affected urban communities to share their recovery experience. This is our contribution to the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine

The Mariupol Reborn plan should become a European standard for the quality of urban regeneration and, after liberation, not only return Mariupol to its pre-war level, but also create a qualitatively new city for comfortable living, business, industrial and port infrastructure development.

The Mariupol Reborn project is being implemented by the Mariupol City Council with the investment support of Rinat Akhmetov's SCM and international donors.
