On May 18, a meeting of the section on the development of temporarily occupied and de-occupied communities of the Association of Cities of Ukraine was held in Kyiv, during which the project of the School of Restoration of Cities was presented. Representatives of government, local self-government, profile NGOs and European partners have joined the discussion. In particular, the General Secretary of the the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Mathieu Mori took part in the meeting.

The School of Restoration of Cities is a six-month program that will last since September, for representatives of the occupied and de-occupied communities on the basis of Mariupol Reborn, which has been developed by Ukrainian and foreign teams for almost one and a half year. The formation of the case staff will begin in July with the participation of the scientific community. The best graduates will be able to continue their academic level at Mariupol Academy.

We are talking about integration with the European community, but we also have to talk about the readiness of our teams for large-scale recovery. It is important that we learn how to write European projects. It is important that we learn to think like Europeans. It is important that we form the future, the strategic future of our communities, discussing with them. And this will be possible through expert learning at the community level through the restoration school. It is the unity of experience and examination, which is present today in Ukraine and in Europe. There are instruments, there are countries and cities that have been revived after the Second World War. And we want to combine it in the learning process

The training will take place in directions: construction of principles of recovery at the level of local self-government, development of plans and strategies, cooperation with international donor organizations, de-occupation of consciousness, overcoming social conflicts and working with veterans. The Kyiv-Mohyla Academy will join the development of modules, within the framework of a memorandum, signed in February 2024.

Education is exactly the direction that can give additional resources to Ukraine, and thus enable Ukraine to restore. We are ready to work in 3 directions. The first direction is research, it is a scientific expertise, it is the support of those projects that will be aggregated in an idea that can be scale in Ukraine. The second direction is the specifically training of specialists. And the third direction is the possibility of European expertise. There is a lot of money. How to get them, how to prepare a project, how to serve it correctly, how to justify how to prepare financial analysis of this project - that's the main thing

Gennady Zubko, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy"

The launch of the restoration school was made possible by the support of international donors and Rinat Akhmetov's SCM companies, which is a permanent partner of Mariupol Reborn from the moment of creation of the project.

As for big business, human capital for us is the first priority. And all that we are focused on now is to help him develop. We do this inside our business projects, and this is what we support this project, which Mariupol City Council initiates with the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and other partners. The experience that is now being developed in Ukraine will not only be "advanced training courses", but it will create a certain examination that will be universal for Ukraine, and which will help Ukraine to increase its ability. Because it is one of the largest barriers to Ukraine. Here should be ready people who will be able to use investments as efficiently as possible

Natalia Yemchenko, member of the Supervisory Board of Mariupol.Reborn and SCM Communications Director

During the session of the section, the participants discussed, in particular, the scale of work on reconstruction of Ukraine.
