Ukrainian community leaders start a three-day offline intensive from the Community Recovery Academy

On April 4, a three-day offline intensive of the Community Recovery Academy started as part of an educational project to train municipal managers. The first day was devoted to a practical workshop on Project Management and Fundraising for the Implementation of Strategic Community Objectives.
The participants gained a thorough knowledge of fundraising basics and formats, and practiced searching for grant opportunities and studying the requirements of
of various donor organizations.
By the beginning of 2024, the focus of grantors began to shift toward recovery. There are already competitions for communities to rebuild green energy, restore medical services, and support small businesses. The focus is on the resilience of communities in times of war. There are grants aimed at bomb shelters, generators, assistance to IDPs and their integration. And it is the integration of internally displaced persons that is in great focus now. Other priorities include energy independence and climate resilience.
During the practical part, participants organized into working groups developed and presented short grant applications. This allowed them to consolidate their skills in structuring and budgeting, as well as to familiarize themselves with the tools for monitoring, evaluating results, and preparing reports for donors. And, of course, once again, to improve teamwork for a common result.
Two eventful days ahead will be devoted to working on the final product of the training course - the Recovery Community Profile. This is a comprehensive document that contains practical solutions and forms a holistic vision of the community's future.
Community Recovery Academy was founded by the Association of Ukrainian Cities and the Mariupol.Reborn NGO. The project is being implemented with the support of the UK Government under the UK International Development program and the International Republican Institute (IRI Ukraine) in partnership with Metinvest and SCM. Previously, Metinvest Polytechnic and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy were the project's educational partners.
