VADYM BOICHENKO: 14 THOUSAND PEOPLE WILL BE NEEDED TO REBUILD MARIUPOL AFTER DE-OCCUPATION
During a live broadcast on one of the TV channels, the Mayor of Mariupol spoke about the results of his participation in the international conference ReBuild Ukraine powered by Energy in Warsaw. For the reconstruction of Mariupol after the de-occupation, it was possible to attract new partners as part of Mariupol Reborn project.
Vadym Boichenko thanked President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the Ukrainian government for creating a high-quality platform in the form of ReBuild Ukraine, which provides an opportunity for cooperation and involvement of international expertise in the post-war urban recovery. This is the second time that the international conference on reconstruction has been held in Poland. The goal is to draw the attention of international partners and donors to the issues of Ukraine's recovery.
For investors, these are opportunities. We have developments with the French government that are currently forming a proposal for what the water supply system in Mariupol should look like. During this year's international conference ReBuild Ukraine powered by Energy in Warsaw, we agreed to hold a two-week training in Rotterdam for specialists from Mariupol, Mykolaiv and Odesa. They will learn how the city was built, what is the technology of water consumption, etc.
There are already results of cooperation with different countries. For example, during the year, specialists from the Mariupol municipality worked together with European experts in fast recovery. Together, they generated 154 projects adapted to Ukrainian realities. Therefore, the team of the mayor of Mariupol already has an understanding of what to do in the city after it is liberated by the Ukrainian armed forces.
We are able to tell how much fast recovery costs and how much time it takes. Two years and 750 million euros to stabilize the situation in the city, to stabilize utilities - water, electricity, etc. We have an understanding of how many people - qualified, professional people - we need to train. 14,000 people, which means 14,000 vacancies that we are offering to our Mariupol residents. But we need to understand that this is a long process of preparing those people for the recovery process
