The first school in the Kyiv region will be an architectural transformation according to the concepts of Mariupol Reborn
Belgium funds the modernization of the school in Kyiv region in the framework of the project of architectural transformation, which is implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the support of Metinvest and DTEK on the basis of concepts developed by Mariupol Reborn initiative.
The project, which was presented in May this year, provides not only cosmetic repairs, but a thorough rethinking of the training space. Financing of this reconstruction in the amount of EUR 4.8 million provides Belgium in accordance with a memorandum on cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The reconstruction of the school was officially approved at the International Conference on Reconnection of Ukraine URC2024, which took place on June 11-12 in Berlin.
The school in the Kyiv region is a typical school of form "O", located in the center of the village. After transformation, it will have modern design, shelter and convenient multifunctional spaces for training and development. In addition, all the premises are converted by the principles of barrier, so it will be convenient to visit the school without exception.
In general, the project provides for the transformation of 5 pilot schools in porters from the war of Ukraine. Transformed schools will be accessible to the community and will have common spaces with high-quality infrastructure. Sports areas, workshops, music or drawing rooms will be able to use village residents after completing lessons.
Development of the projects of architectural transformation of schools is implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the support of Rinat Akhmetov's Metinvest and DTEK on the basis of concepts developed by Mariupol Reborn's initiative, in cooperation with the executive partner of Big City Lab and Lithuanian Architectural NGO Rebuild The Wonderful, at the initiative of the Vicepremier-Minister for Innovation, Development of Science and Technology, the Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
Schools should not be reminiscent of hospital premises. They should be like a small Google or Netflix office, a place where breakthrough ideas and dreams are born. The conditions in which the educational process and formation of children as personalities occur are very important. The development of human capital is one of our main priorities.
